Bodog.com Sports Casino Poker is pleased to announce that both Josh Arieh and David Williams were representing Bodog.com at this past weekend’s NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship... The
Championships were built in a bracket format, which allows for a small
margin of error, and saw some of the games elite players fall within
the first round.
“With
this structure, much like the NCAA basketball tournament, you tend to
see some major upsets in the opening rounds, which ultimately leads to
a dramatic finish,” said Calvin Ayre, Founder and CEO of Bodog.com Sports Casino Poker.
“Josh and David were both great representatives for us, and they are
true ambassadors for the growing interest of poker around the world.”
Josh
Arieh started out well, knocking off Celine Dion’s husband, Rene
Angelil in the first round. Arieh proceeded to the second round to face
off against Ted Forrest. Forrest, who has captured three gold bracelets
at the World Series of Poker, made certain that Arieh would not be
entering into the Round of 16. David Williams had a much more
formidable opponent in the first round than Arieh. Williams was facing
off against Spain’s Carlos Mortensen, a three-time winner in WPT
events, and two-time WSOP winner. Unfortunately for Williams, Mortensen
was on his game in the early going and knocked David out in the opening
round.
“We were
thrilled to have both players representing us at this event, and we
look forward to working with them for future events,” said Calvin Ayre.
“Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson and Phil Hellmuth had a fantastic,
marathon-like race to the finish, and it was great to see Phil take
another tournament.”
