| Basics of Playing Craps
In most gambling circles, craps is thought to be one of the most exciting and action packed games available at online and offline casinos. The reason being is that if you go to any land based casino, you will often see large crowds of people around the craps tables and you will also often hear the crownds of people shouting and screaming for their dice to come up. Craps is played on a particular type of table and there are usually two dice that are used which are also usually custom made specifically for craps only. The casino rules specifically state that a player must throw the dice with only one hand. In addition, when the player throws the dice, they must touch the walls on the other side of the table. If the dice are by mistake thrown off the table, they are usually inspected by casino staff to make sure they are ok. Some craps casinos will rather just replace the dice in the event they do leave the table.
The Craps Table
The layout of a craps table is divided into 3 areas - 2 side areas separated by a center one. Each side area is the mirror reflection of the other and contains the following: Pass and Don't Pass line bets, Come and Don't Come bets, Odds bet, Place bets and Field bets. The table can hold around 20 players, usually not more then this. Each player around the table gets a chance to roll the dice and bet on the appropriate outcome. In the event a particular player does not want to throw the dice, they can in fact sit out of the round but they can still back or bet on the players that are still in the round and throwing the dice. A typical Craps table needs a few casino personnel to manage the game. This is usually between two to three people. These people usually manage the craps stick and and the craps box.
When the first dice is rolled in a craps game, this is called the "Come Out". At many online casinos for US players, a game starts with the come out dice. This only iccurs when a player is not able to make a roll that is a winning number. If the existing player does make their Point, the dice are returned and it is the next players turn to roll the dice.
Craps Betting
Craps is a rather confusing game and as such, there exist a number of different betting types. Lets examine the various types of craps bets. The first type is called the Pass Line Bet. This is usually the very basic bet in craps and there are only two ways to win this bet. This is when you roll either a 7 or an 11, commonly known as a natural. also, if you should roll any of the following numbers when playing the pass line bet then you will win the particular bet: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or a 10.
Once the various points have been found, the player that just made a pass line bet can now also go onto make a "take the odds" bet. This is when an extra wager is made that equals your original first wager. We now move onto another bet type that is called the "Come Bets". Once the shooter has established the point, then a "come bet" can be made and this can occur on every throw of the dice. The players will usually take the hand if they throw the come point prior to a 7. The player does not win if they throw a 7 first. Next is the "Dont Pass Line" - this is pretty much the opposite of the "pass line bets". the next bet type is "laying the odds" which is considered to be the exact opposite of the other type of craps betting called "Taking the Odds". Then the "Dont Come Bets" which in fact are very similar to the "dont pass Bets".
Punters can also place bets on the numbers 6 and 8. Essentially this is a place bet and can be made on any number on the craps table. Please note, punters are not allowed to make a take the odds bet on a place bet. In order to place this kind of bet, simply give your chips to the dealer and they will pace them on either 6 or 8, which ever you had decided. Moving onto another craps betting type called "Single Roll Bets". This happens when a player places a bet on the single numbers of either 2, 3, 11 or 12. Then we have what is called the "Hardway Bets" which are also placed on single numbers however there are a few others rules that need to be consdered before a player wins on a Hardway bet. The "Field Bet" is when the player bets that any OTHER group of numbers is made on the next roll. These OTHER number include, 2,3,4,9,10,11 and 12. Finally, the last few bet types in craps are called "Any Craps" - if the player throws either 2, 3 or 12 it is considered a win. The "Any 7" bet is when the player rolls a "7", this is an automatic win. And finally, there is the "Eleven or Craps" bet, this occurs if the punter rolls a 2, 3, 11 or a 12.
