| History of Craps
It is written in many books and articles that there exist a number of opinion on where the game of craps was first played. Some state that 100's of years ago, people used to roll bones in order to call up the will of the gods. Many say that due to this, the birth of a number of dice games started, including the game of Craps. Others say that craps was an early Arabic game that was passed through to the United Kingdom, France and North America. Most historians do share the common understanding that Craps came over to the western world some time in the 1700's.
In more modern times, it is said that Craps was first enjoyed on boats on the massive missisippi river in the US. Thereafter, the game slowly moved west. Today, there are typically two types of craps games that are played in modern casinos and even still played on the streets. These types of craps are called "Street Craps” and “Bank Craps”.
Lets discuss Street Craps first. Street Craps you would commonly find being played in more informal enviornments hence the name "Street craps". There is no complex betting pattern and the winner is decided when someone else covers the other players roll. As the name says, a lot of the time this form of craps is played on the streets. You see this in many movies containing scenes of north american gang and street culture.
The other form of craps which is termed "Bank Craps", is played in most modern casinos today and is the most well known type of craps game. This type of craps game is also most often played in a number of the top online casinos today. In this type of craps, its a little more advanced and usually is played against the house which covers the bets. Although craps shares a deep and mystical history, its a rather difficult game to play and comes with a number of advanced rules and variations. It is not as popular as other casino games due to the complex nature of the rules but is considered one of the most popular games in countries like Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
